Whether we're Eurosceptics or not, Europe is here and well and truly here. By creating the GDPR, the General Data Protection Regulation, it has created an extraordinary tool, establishing the principle of protecting the personal data of all its citizens.

The GDPR is a regulation; it cannot be amended or "customized" by the member states. It can be directly transposed into the legislation of the 29, at the time of the 18, now since Brexit, and it has been applicable as is and on the same date since May 25, 2018. Each of us will therefore have to be compliant, and our businesses and organizations will have to comply. This is very far from being the case.

This virtuous regulation signed by the European Commission responds to the challenges posed by the rapid development of new technologies. It is a visionary political stance that will profoundly shake up the established order. It was about time...

It is so complex; we cannot blame its authors, quite the contrary; that we wanted in these few articles, for the attention of managers and strategic management of companies and organizations, to decipher the main issues of the GDPR in a practical and rather operational light in our everyday lives, already busy. My natural enthusiasm leads me to think that the GDPR is a fabulous opportunity for companies that will seize it with desire, seriousness and pragmatism. Indeed, it can prove to be a strategic asset, without a doubt a lever for growth and pro-business value, in any case an ethical guarantee of the relationship with the person, the employee or collaborator relationship, the subcontractor or partner relationship, the customer relationship... the relationship in general. By purifying these countless aspects of our relationship with others, in this new world where the cards are being reshuffled, there will be more room for respect, trust, and the joy of working, exchanging, or trading together. So welcome to the era of human relationships, in their noblest sense!
